UAQFTZ was established in 1987 and re-launched in 2014 with a simplified package structure aimed at SMEs. It accepts more than 1,500 activities across commercial, consulting, microbusiness, freelancer, and industrial licences. Unlike some northern free zones, UAQFTZ permits 100% foreign ownership, no minimum capital requirement, and same-day pre-approval for standard cases.
It's one of the very few places where you can incorporate an entity without a visa for under AED 6,000 — a meaningful entry point for solopreneurs and holding-company users.

What's not great about UAQ
- Brand recognition: some Tier-1 banks and overseas counterparties don't recognise UAQFTZ as readily as DMCC or DIFC.
- Limited physical presence: if you need a fit-out office near clients in Dubai, UAQ isn't the right home.
- Activity restrictions: regulated activities (DFSA, ADGM categories) aren't available — those need DIFC or ADGM.
