Visa-on-arrival for PRC passport holders
Mainland Chinese nationals can enter the UAE for up to 30 days without applying in advance. The visa is multiple-entry within the validity period and can be extended once for a further 30 days through Amer or ICP for AED 600.
Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR passport holders also get visa-on-arrival but with separate quotas. Taiwan passport holders need to apply for an e-visa before travel.
Business visa — the most common entry route
The 14-day, 30-day, or 60-day business visa is sponsored by a UAE company and is preferred over the standard tourist visa because it carries clearer commercial purpose, is easier to renew, and doesn't restrict the activities you can undertake (meetings, contract negotiation, factory visits, exhibitions).

Chinese Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate in Dubai
- Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the UAE — located in Abu Dhabi, handles passport renewals, travel documents, notarial certificates, and CRBA equivalents.
- Consulate-General of China in Dubai — covers Dubai and the Northern Emirates for the same services, plus emergency consular protection.
- Appointments are booked through the official Chinese embassy app or the China Visa Application Service Centre (CVASC) website.
Document attestation through Chinese notary
This is the step most Chinese applicants underestimate. UAE authorities require Chinese-issued documents (degrees, birth certificates, marriage certificates, no-criminal-record letters) to be authenticated through a strict three-step chain:
- Notarisation by a Chinese notary public in the issuing province.
- Authentication by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) or the provincial Foreign Affairs Office.
- Attestation by the UAE Embassy in Beijing — followed by MOFAIC attestation upon arrival in the UAE.
China is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention for purposes accepted by the UAE in this chain, so apostille alone isn't enough — full embassy legalisation is required. Expect 4–8 weeks end-to-end. Documents in Chinese also need certified Arabic or English translation in the UAE.
